Sangoma Session Border Controller Common Questions

Question 1: Can the Sangoma SBC be used in Cloud solutions?

Answer: Yes, Sangoma’s SBC  is created for security, interoperability and transcoding and it is being used in the Cloud solutions all the time.

Question 2: Will the SBC help out when users use weak passwords on their system?

Answer: No, unfortunately.

Question 3: Should I use an SBC when setting up remote users or is the use of VPN good enough to protect my solution?

Answer: VPN is a good solution, but it has other challenges. VPN will secure the device but you are still opening up ports for your SIP provider. Click here to learn more.

Question 4: Does Sangoma’s SBC have any firewall certifications?

Answer: No. Although we have a firewall built in, this is not our main feature or deployment method.

Question 5: Does Sangoma SBC work with SD-WAN?

Answer: Yes, but it would all depend upon the requirement needed for the SBC.

Question 6: What is an E-SBC?

Answer: E-SBC stands for “Enterprise SBC”. It is designed for enterprises. The role of session border controllers deployed in enterprise and service provider networks is similar, but the two types of deployment are different in scale.

My Revolabs FLX2 Microphones Are Not Picking Up Sound

Q: My Revolabs FLX2 Microphones are not picking up any sound. What can be done to fix it?

A: This is a common issue encountered by our customers. There are a few things you can try:

  1. Your microphones might be muted: If the microphone is not muted, the light on the mic should be blinking green. You can unmute your mic by pressing the mute button again.
  2. Your microphones might be out of battery: Make sure your microphones are fully charged. If they are out of juice, put them back on the base unit to recharge.
  3. Your microphones might not be paired with your Revolab FLX2. Watch this Yamaha video to learn how to pair your FLX2

VTech VSP600: How to Make a New Call While on Hold

December 10, 2018 by Ying-Hui Chen

Your phone is ringing and it might be a very important call that you don’t want to miss. What if you are on a call with someone else? What can be done other than cutting off the current call and pick up the other one?

If you are using VTech’s VSP600 IP phones, it’s not a problem at all! Today we are going to learn how to place a call on hold, switch calls, or even make a new call while on hold. Let’s get to it!

How to Place a Call on Hold and Resume on The VSP600

First of all, how do you place a call on hold on the VSP600? The VSP600 handset actually does the job for you.

The VSP600 Handset puts calls on hold automatically when you answer another call, transfer a call, or create a conference. But if you simply just want to put a call on hold for any reason, you can do this manually by pressing “HOLD”. (Note that you can’t put an internal call on hold.) When you are ready to take off the hold, just press “RESUME” from your On Hold screen.

How to Make a New Call While On Hold

  1. When you have a call on hold, press the “MENU” key
  2. With New Call highlighted, press “ENTER”
  3. Enter the number you want to dial

If you need to switch between two active calls, simply press “NEXT” on your screen.

Very easy, right? If you have more questions about how to use the VSP600 handsets, check out the user manual here or submit a ticket here for our tech support!

Logitech Decided Against the $2.2 Billion Plantronics Acquisition

December 5, 2018 by Ying-Hui Chen

Logitech International S.A., a Swiss provider of personal computer and mobile peripherals, stated that they had decided against the original attempt of acquiring Plantronics for a reported $2.2 billion.

The $2.2 billion Plantronics buyout was the company’s largest acquisition attempt in the company’s history and it’s unclear why the negotiations between Logitech and Plantronics fell through. It’s believed that there are strong synergies for the two companies to unite. Plantronics and Logitech both deliver a wide range of accessories for electronics such as smartphones, computers, game consoles, and other devices. However, it’s uncertain whether either company would revisit the negotiations at a later date.
