Spectralink Versity Smartphones, a must have for enterprise-grade users

June 4, 2019 by Youleidy Vega

Just last month, the team at VoIP Supply held a training with Spectralink. During that session they highlighted their new Versity Series line of enterprise-grade smartphones with SIP integration.

I had the opportunity to demo the models first-hand and as the Product Marketing Specialist for the Spectralink brand, it was neat to see the products in person and get to test out the key features.

These phones are designed with enterprise users in mind. They are for office or on-the-go workers who needs to be able to manage tasks at any given point regardless of their location. With that in mind, I was expecting to see a bulky, not-so-great-looking phone that cost a lot of money and looked awful. To my surprise, the Versity phones had a sleek, modern design to them.

They are lightweight, yet you can tell that they are made of quality material. In fact, they reinforced and feature a steel plate that has been drop tested at over 25-hundred feet (78.1.5m).

Although the Versity smartphones are Google Certified and have an Android 8.1 operating system, they are not the standard cellphones you would find at your local mobile store. There are Wi-Fi and LTE versions that can be used with a number of wireless cell phone providers, but the Versity smartphones are top of the line IP68 rated, dustproof and can be submerged underwater for up to 30 minutes without incurring any damage. They also boast a Gorilla glass touch screen.

One thing that sets them apart from a regular smartphone and most of the competition is their true hot-swappable batteries. If the phone is running low on battery, you can literally remove the battery from it, while taking a call, and put in the charged spare battery without the phone shutting off and causing you to lose what you were working on or without ending a call.

There are 4 models to the Versity Series:

Spectralink offers barcode scanner options and well as Wi-Fi and LTE alternatives.

All models feature the same enterprise-grade functions:

  • True hot swap batteries
  • 5.2” 1080×1920 display
  • Slim, sleek design
  • Superb voice quality
  • Customizable Push to Talk, Alarm, and Scan buttons
  • Bluetooth 5.0 (including Bluetooth LE)
  • Chemical-resistant, IP68 rated, Waterproof
  • 13MP rear camera with grid capability
  • Fingerprint scanner
  • Larger 3000 mAh batteries

Do you want to learn more about Spectralink Versity features, specifications and use cases?  Watch this quick, yet informative video.

One cool thing that got my attention during the training was the fact that users are able to customize the buttons on the smartphone based on what functions feel right per button. For example, you can choose what button to use for the push to talk feature, or what button to use to send an alarm or to scan something. I think that added flexibility makes a huge difference in making the device your own and empowering staff to feel comfortable throughout the workday.

Overall, my take on the Versity Series is that they are well made, reliable, easy to use yet robust devices that truly have been designed with users in mind. Whether you are a hospital, manufacturing facility, office worker or construction worker, the Versity smartphones can fill the gaps for any of these verticals and more.

An IP Paging Solution for your Pets – CyberData Success Story

June 3, 2019 by hwaple

Pets come from places near and far. The Erie County SPCA located in Western New York in Buffalo is the temporary home to some of these pets looking for their forever home. The SPCA of Erie County was looking for an IP paging solution that would allow them to fully utilize their current IP technology while being fully aware of the budget constraints since they are a non-profit organization. It was important that the SPCA of Erie County found a cost-effective and IP paging solution that met their needs, that’s where CyberData comes in to play.

Problem: The SPCA of Erie County was in need of a paging system that made maximum use of their current IP technology all at a reasonable cost.

SPCA Requirements:

  • General paging and music to be played over the speakers, with very good sound quality fidelity
  • Zone paging that would allow music to be played in some areas, and paging only in others with a “Page All Areas’ function as well.
  • Flexibility to modify or change zone over time, and easily adjust the volume
  • Integration closely with a VoIP phone system, allowing paging from any phone

Solution: Speaker/Pager/ Public Address portion of the project, provided the best combination of quality, capability, flexibility, and value for the project.

A cost-effective system, which was attained by

  • Pairing each “Master” SIPs speaker with an associated Auxiliary Analog Speaker, lowering system costs by approximately 40%
  • The use of PoE IP speakers, which reduced wiring costs by eliminating a separate power source for each speaker
  • The competitive pricing and exceptional value offered by CyberData products

The SPCA of Erie County also chose CyberData due to the product support that was offered during the design and configuration phase ensuring that the products would seamlessly integrate with other equipment in their IT network. Easy programmability through a web-based interface, security features, and a low PoE power budget were all other reasons why the SPCA of Erie County chose CyberData over its competitors.

CyberData 011394 Sip Speaker

CyberData 011121 Auxiliary Analog Speaker

CyberData 011068 Paging Horn

CyberData 011324 Paging Amplifier

In the end, CyberData was able to answer The SPCA of Erie County’s needs with their IP paging products. We are proud to have staff here at VoIP Supply that has adopted their pets from the SPCA of Erie County. If you are looking to adopt, donate or volunteer at the Erie County SPCA click here!

The Fanvil X210: An Elegant Enterprise Phone Packed with Features!

May 31, 2019 by Steve Lopian

It’s no secret that we are all big fans of Fanvil here at VoIP Supply. Being that we are an official distributor of their products, we feel obligated to test and get to know each one of their phones inside and out, and honestly, it’s a lot of fun.

One IP phone in particular that we have been waiting to get our hands on to test is their new flagship phone, the X210!  This phone is massive! It is packed with 3 color screens and really targets the executive user.

Playing around with this phone in our own VoIP lab proved to not only be very informative, but also very exciting! In fact, we learned so much, that we didn’t want to just tell you about it, we wanted to take it one step further…

So, we decided to write this blog after getting our hands on the Fanvil X210, but that still wasn’t enough! We asked ourselves: what would be the best way to let our customers know just how awesome and unique this phone is? Naturally, we decided on creating a product review video!

This video showcases some of the features of the phone that we found to be most impressive.  One example would be its hotspot feature! Much like a satellite, this feature allows the X210 to distribute phone calls to other phones in your office without using a phone system!  Crazy, right? I know.

But the Fanvil X210’s hotspot feature is only the tip of the iceberg! Want to see everything else this elegant enterprise phone has to offer? Then watch our product review video above! We think you’ll be extremely impressed with this latest offering from Fanvil.

Do you already own a Fanvil X210? How has your experience been as a user? Let us know in the comments below! We want to hear from you!

How to Upgrade the 8-port API to a 12-port API on Sangoma A20004DE

May 29, 2019 by Ying-Hui Chen

Our tech support team at VoIP Supply offers great pre- and post-sales support plus provisioning, consultations, configuration, and installation help. We get a lot of VoIP hardware and software questions and would like to share the solutions with everyone.

In previous Mom’s calling Q&A series, we have discussed: How to Set Up the Fanvil BLF on FreePBX Today, we have more new real questions and answers from VoIP users just like you.

How to Upgrade the 8-port API to a 12-port API on Sangoma A20004DE

Q: I have an 8-port API installed (Sangoma A20004DE) and want to upgrade to a 12-port API. Which expansion part(s) can be purchased to make that happen?

A: You will want to check out one of these, depending on the base card:

Sangoma Expansion Module for the A200BRM series cards. This add on will give you access to 4 additional ports of FXO or FXS that can be added. For each A200RA that you want to add onto your base A200BRM card, you will need an A200BP(2 6) with the 2 6 representing the total number of remora’s plus the base that will be tethered together

or

Sangoma Expansion Module for the A400BRM series cards. This add on will give you access to 12 additional ports of FXO or FXS that can be added. You can tether up to 1 A400Ra with one base A400BRM card.
