Sangoma SIPStation & FAXStation Webinar Recap

September 11, 2019 by Ying-Hui Chen

In today’s Sangoma reseller webinar, Mark and Tom covered all you need to know about SIPStation and FAXStation! Out of all the cool features and functionalities you can enjoy, I would like to highlight the fail-safe fax over IP service as faxing has always been a pain for many businesses. Sangoma’s e-faxing services are very simple yet powerful! Some of the highlights include:

  • An online portal to track your faxes
  • Fail-Safe Faxing Services
  • Re-use existing fax machines
  • Low monthly cost
  • Ideal for low bandwidth scenarios

Click here to download our presentation slides! Also, don’t forget to check out the Q&A session below.

Sangoma Reseller Webinar Q&A

Q: Do your SIP trunks support voice and video environment?

A: Sangoma doesn’t have video type solutions. Any video is peer to peer passthrough, we don’t do video conferencing but there are 3rd party devices you can get and run through PBXact, FreePBX and our SIP Trunks. Contact the VoIP Supply team for video conferencing solutions.

Q: Any plans to do TLS encryption on sip trunks?

A: Yes, this is in the works and should be released in the near future. We are a little behind due to our acquisition with Digium. There will be an additional cost for these with the encryption but we aren’t sure what the pricing will be yet.

Q: Is SIPStation as secure as a T1 lines to outside attacks?

A: Typically, when your system is hacked, the problem doesn’t come from SIPStation. It usually is because of the weak passwords or other factors in between. SIPStation has a special key that will give you some protection and if you are worried, consider adding a session border controller or firewall for an extra layer of protection.

Q: Is there any wholesale version of FAXStation like a Vitelity? This way faxes for multiple customers can be managed and maintained from one screen with no need for a Freepbx.

A: You don’t need a PBX for faxing services. For resellers, you will need to set up an account and add the locations. So the answer is YES, I suggest you sign up for the program today!

Q: Do you feel that 911 services and faxing have made it tougher for many companies to fully adopt or transition to a full on VoIP system?

A: Not at all, we require e911 on all trunks, and offer Fax Over IP solutions within our SIPStation product line (both over SIP, and over HTTPS)

If you have more questions regarding our VoIP Reseller Partner Program, please feel free to contact our VoIP experts at 1-800-398-8647 or [email protected]

It’s important that the admin is aware when this access is enabled for any IP address on the Internet (the All Networks rule effectively means ‘anyone’), so this alert cannot be dismissed.
  • When the Join button is used in the Switchboard’s Conference widget, the call is now displayed in the user’s Call Log and in the admin’s Current Calls tool.
  • The Desktop Softphone no longer displays errors and fails to load Contacts and Status options, in scenarios where the extension has older external contact data that was interfering with the phone’s display.
  • Parking Lot extension names can now include & and ” and can be successfully modified.
  • When an outgoing call rule prepends a + to the outgoing number, the call details now appear correctly.
  • When a call is rapid-transferred to an additional phone that is a mobile softphone, using the InCall Menu, the call is now transferred correctly.
  • On the password reset page, the email address can be entered with any combination of upper case and lower case characters.
  • The Switchboard Conference widget no longer displays ‘ghost’ callers after everyone has left the conference room.

We are very excited that Sangoma’s SBC features can now be integrated with Digium Switchvox and the D80 now supports an alternate host and multicasting!
