Connecting AudioCodes’ SBC to Microsoft Teams Direct Routing

May 6, 2020 by Ying-Hui Chen

Did you know? As your phone system is running more sessions (more licenses), a PowerShell script can be configured to mass deploy through the instances out to other Session Border Controllers (SBCs). Let’s take a closer look at how this can be done:

Teams Direct Routing allows connecting a customer-provided SBC to Microsoft Phone System. The SBC can be connected to almost any telephony trunk, or connect with third-party PSTN equipment. The connection allows:

  • Using virtually any PSTN trunk with Microsoft Phone System
  • Configuring interoperability between customer-owned telephony equipment, such as third-party PBXs, analog devices, and Microsoft Phone System

What SBCs are Certified for Teams Direct Routing?

AudioCodes’ Mediant SBCs Ver. 7.20A.250 are all certified for Teams Direct Routing, the previous firmware versions may run successfully; however, these versions were not tested. You can see a full list of certified SBCs here.

You will need to validate that you have the correct license key. If you don’t have the correct license key, contact your AudioCodes representative to obtain one.  The main AudioCodes licenses required by the SBC include:

  • SW/TEAMS
  • Number of SBC sessions [Based on requirements]
  • Transcoding sessions [If media transcoding is needed]

What Devices Can be Configured?

  • 500 E-SBC
  • 500L E-SBC
  • 800B E-SBC
  • 2600  E-SBC
  • 4000  E-SBC
  • 9000  E-SBC

What are the Network Requirements?

See below for a full list of infrastructure prerequisites for deploying Direct Routing:

  • Certified Session Border Controller (SBC)
  • SIP Trunks connected to the SBC
  • Office 365 tenant Domains Public IP address for the SBC
  • Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) for the SBC
  • Public DNS entry for the SBC
  • Public trusted certificate for the SBC Firewall ports for Direct Routing signaling
  • Firewall IP addresses and ports for Direct Routing media
  • Media Transport Profile
  • Firewall ports for client media

How to Connect Poly (Plantronics) Voyager 6200 Headset to a PC

Are you having trouble connecting your Poly Voyager 6200 headset to your computer? Check out this quick guide:

Your headset should come with a USB adapter (dongle). This dongle is pre-paired to your headset already. When you are ready to connect your VoIP headset to your PC, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your Voyager 6200 headset and plug the dongle into your laptop or PC.
  1. The USB dongle will then flash blue and turn solid blue. This means your headset is successfully connected to the USB adapter.
  2. Now from your headset, you should hear “PC connected” which indicates the connection has been established!

What does the blue light mean now? When you are on a call, your USB adapter will flash blue; when you are off from the call, the adapter will turn back to solid blue. That’s it!

4 Fanvil SIP Intercom Application Scenarios

April 20, 2020 by Ying-Hui Chen

This month’s Fanvil webinar drew a lot of attention as we took an overview of Fanvil’s SIP Intercom products for door access control. Tommy from Fanvil walked us through Fanvil’s wide range of SIP intercom portfolio and demonstrated how these devices can be used in different industries. Let’s check out some typical application scenarios!

#1 Self Service Store – The i30 & i16V

The Fanvil i30 is ideal for gate entry control and help desk in the self-service stores where no staff presents. Customers will need to press a button and show an ID card to be allowed to enter and authorized persons can enter with an RFID card.

The i16V could also be installed on the ceiling to monitor unauthorized entry with video and audio broadcasting.

#2 Remote Parking Lot – PA2

Fanvil’s PA2 paging gateway is a great access control system for remote areas. In a remote parking lot, drivers in trouble can get instant help by contacting the management center using the intercom. The manager will then be able to control the barrier remotely through the management center.

#3 Campus – i16V and i12/i10

Easily make your campus safe and secure with Fanvil’s video and audio intercoms! The i16V video intercom is great for outdoors monitoring and the i12/i10 audio intercom is ideal for indoors. Important functions include:

  • One-press emergency call
  • Broadcasting
  • Monitoring
  • Emergency consultation
  • Recording
  • External call

#4 Train Station – PA2 & C600/X6U/X210 IP Phone

The Fanvil PA2 and PA2-Kit can be set up for emergency communications at train station platforms and the Fanvil C600, X6U or X210 IP phones are ideal for remote surveillance at supervision centers.
