June 11, 2021 by Mary Cheney

If you didn’t know, Snom’s M85 ruggedized DECT phone can be used with a Bluetooth headset! We absolutely love the fact that this DECT phone has this feature. It gives the user the ability to move around and be hands-free at the same time, which is important in certain situations such as manufacturing or retail stores. You are also able to pair multiple headsets to one M85, so we will also walk you through how to manage those headsets.

For this post we are going to walk you through enabling the feature and then how to actually pair the headset. By default the Bluetooth setting is disabled, so we will first need to enable this setting in order to begin the pairing process.

Enable Bluetooth Setting

  1. Open the Settings menu and press to go to Bluetooth at the end of the menu.
  2. Select Bluetooth.
  3. Select Enable/Disable. You will be asked whether to enable or disable Bluetooth, depending on its current status.
  4. Press Yes or No to change or keep the current status and to return to the Bluetooth screen

Ok, now that we have that done, let’s work pairing your headset to the Snom M85!

  1. Make sure that Bluetooth is enabled.
  2. Select Search for devices.
  3. Put the headset into pairing mode. For more information, please refer to the headset’s user guide.
  4. If the phone has detected more than one headset, select yours from the list and press Pair. When pairing has been successful, you will see the message “Bluetooth connection established”.

Managed Paired Headsets

  1. Open the Settings menu and press to go to Bluetooth at the end of the menu.
  2. Select Paired Devices.
  3. Select the device and press the function key underneath Disconn. or Connect to change the device’s current status.
  4. Press More to open the submenu where you can change the name of the device, delete the selected device, delete all devices, or view the Info screen with the product’s name and Bluetooth MAC.

Q&A What IP Paging Solutions Work with Cisco?

June 10, 2021 by Mary Cheney

More and more of our customers are looking to integrate their systems to ensure that all of their devices are able to communicate with each other, especially in emergency situations.

One question that has been coming up quite frequently is what IP paging solutions are compatible with Cisco Call Manager. I am going to break down a couple of options that you can consider, but I also really encourage you to reach out to us, because  our partnerships allow us to offer free design services to ensure you are getting everything you need.

To start, I would like to say that you are in luck because there are a couple of options depending on your situation. Our partners at Advanced Network Devices, Algo, CyberData and Valcom all have solutions that will work with Cisco.

So let’s start with Advanced Network Devices, their products are designed and built in the USA. They offer a wide range of IP Speakers, Buttons, Modules, Intercoms and Visual Alert solutions that are all compatible with Cisco Unified Communications Manager, as well as, mass notification software platforms like Singlewire InformaCast and Intrado Revolution. They are also a Certified Cisco Solutions Partner. Because of this partnership, you are able to easily connect their devices to your Cisco system and manage the devices from the UI (user interface) you are comfortable with. Advanced Network Devices also offers ClockWise Campus (PC-based) which allows full control of Advanced Network Devices IP PoE displays, speakers, and hubs. Check out Advanced Network Devices LLDP-MED Configuration with Cisco Switch guide!

Next, let’s talk about Algo Solutions and how they can integrate with your Cisco IP System. They are another Certified Solutions Partner with Cisco, which again makes them a great option to work with when you are considering a paging solution. Algo also offers a couple of cool products that can help you integrate a legacy analog paging system to a Cisco telephone system by using an Algo 8301 paging adapter

CyberData is another great option! All of their products are multicast capable which is important when you are trying to integrate with Cisco phones. You will need to ensure your Cisco phones are running firmware version 7.5.4 or higher. CyberData offers a wide range of compatible devices and they have some great resources for you to reference when you are ready to start setting up your solution, such as a SIP Speaker Cisco Call Manager Server Setup Guide and much more!

Last but not least, let’s talk about Valcom! They offer a product of their own as well called the Valcom SIP Paging Adapter. This product allows you to connect to any PA System without the added expense of an ATA or Media Gateway. This product supports legacy analog systems as well as new systems. They are also a Certified Cisco Solutions Partner and offer additional resources for you to reference when implementing their solution.

As mentioned earlier, if you need assistance or have additional questions about any of these solutions reach out to our VoIP Experts, who combined have over 60 years of experience with these systems and solutions. CyberData Breaks Down IP Rating – What It Means, And Why It Matters For VoIP Paging Equipment

May 20, 2021 by Mary Cheney

Are you thinking about adding IP Paging to your portfolio but nervous to do so? Our partners at CyberData recently launched CyberSchool, which is a great series that is led by the one and only Paul Tuttle! Paul walks through many helpful use case scenarios as well as worst and best practices, so when the time comes to add IP paging products, you’ll be ready!

Paul goes through and defines the difference between water-resistant, water-repellent and waterproof. While you might know the difference, it can be a critical piece of your consultation and ensuring you are provided easy to understand examples is very important.

He also breaks down the IP rating profiles for IP65 and IP66.

Ok, I don’t want to spoil the video so I am going to encourage you to check out this episode of CyberSchool! Paul shows some real life examples of what a good install and bad install looks like. It’s really helpful to see what you should and shouldn’t do in certain situations. Most recently, Paul breaks down the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to preserving the IP rating on CyberData devices.

You can also see a full list of the CyberSchool videos here!
