Since its founding in 1999, Mobotix has been focused on one particular feature of IP cameras: High resolution. In fact, that’s their tagline: Mobotix: The HiRes Video Company. “What’s so special about high resolution images,” you might ask? The higher resolution images that an IP camera can produce, the more detailed, accurate, and (quite frankly) useful that image is going to be.
From their inception, Mobotix realized that not only is sending video images over an IP network more cost effective than CCTV analog systems but that it makes more cost sense to have a high quality image that allows for clear analysis of details. Analog cameras may be able to capture a general overview but in matters of surveillance, a fuzzy image is neither warm nor helpful. If a license plate number cannot be read or a facial recognition cannot be made from captured images, what’s the point?
With the goal of producing high resolution camera systems, Mobotix has subsequently produced self-sufficient cameras with up to 32GB of internal recording storage, all cameras have weatherproof casings for indoor or outdoor use, larger image areas are captured utilizing dual or hemispheric lenses so fewer cameras need to be used, the cameras are virtually maintenance free because they have no moving parts, and the video software is always free for an unlimited number of users and cameras.
