We get it, there are a lot of headset options out there, and trying to find out which headset is compatible with the phone or program you are using can be difficult to find. We are here to help and provide you with some tools that will guide you through this sometimes daunting process.
If you did not already know this, many headset companies have pretty useful tools to help you navigate which headsets are compatible with certain VoIP Phones or programs.
Here are some simple but useful tips to look out for when you are looking for a new headset! Let’s begin by looking at a manufacturer’s product names. For this example, I am going to use Jabra, specifically the Jabra Evolve2 75. Let’s look at the variations of this model and point out how to figure out the differences!
Alright, are you confused? Well, don’t be! As you can see there are some simple giveaways right off the bat, such as the color and if it comes with a stand or not. The next thing to point out is UC vs. MS. UC stands for Universal Communication and this means it will connect to pretty much any platform or compatible phone(s) you want to use it with. MS stands for Microsoft and that means that the headset has been certified with Microsoft and that it most likely has a Microsoft Teams Connection button built right into the headset. This allows for a plug-and-play experience on the Microsoft Teams platform. The next thing to point out is the lowercase a and c. This is the identifier for the type of USB connection it has. The a represents a USB-A connection and the c represents a USB-C connection. This is probably the biggest thing that most people forget to check when purchasing a headset, so it’s always good to check the device or devices you going to be connecting the headset to, to ensure you have the right connection.
The next area that I want to cover is trying to figure out if the headset you want to purchase is compatible with the device or devices you are using and most importantly if you need additional accessories to help you connect to those devices. Do not take a guess, always check to make sure what you are purchasing is compatible! Below are a couple of amazing resources to help you make the right selection.
