This is combination of old news and new news.
Many people have been using Google Voice with Obihai VoIP adapters for some time now to take advantage of free calling with the wireless or corded phones they already own.
That’s why the company has this appropriately titled blog post, The Google Voice Service is Still Working on My OBi! How come?. Google was scheduled to drop the XMPP communication protocol that made this possible.
The new, good, news is that Google Voice is now officially supported on Obihai VoIP adapters.
What this means now is that instead of crossing your fingers that your OBi device will still work with Google Voice, which Obihai could not confirm or support, is that you won’t have to switch to a new voice service afterall.

Do Obihai VoIP Adapters work with an already existing IP phone? I have a Polycom VVX 500 and want to know if it will connect to the Obihai VoIP Adapter and Google Voice?
Hi Matt,
Yes, it will. The OBi is configured as in the Voxilla tutorial. Following is the needed configuration on the Polycom IP Phone.
1) To accept incoming calls from the unregistered OBi 2) To send outgoing calls to the unregistered OBi
Note that Polycom's do not use different SIP ports for each line, like the Linksys do. The phone listens on 5060 for all lines. What determines which line the call goes to is the "reg.x.auth.userId" value.

OBITalk.com portal, which you have used to configure your OBiHAI phone and/or ATA, is quickly approaching the end of its life, and will be officially shut down on Oct 31, 2024. Is there any adapter similar to OBI on the market that I can use to connect Google Voice with my analog phone?
I am reaching out to our account manager at HP to see if they have plans to continue this line, we will update once we have more information.
