Best VoIP Phones and Conference Phones for Legal Offices

Note:  This is the 2nd installment in a three part series about VoIP for law firms.  Click here for Part I and Part III.

Even if you consider yourself a citizen of the 21st century with the software and technology you use, you know that working at a legal office means you’ll still need a number of traditionally-styled pieces of hardware to keep things running smoothly.

But as you’ll discover, office and conference room phones can accomplish exactly what you’ve always expected – with the added features and capabilities of a modern VoIP system.

Don’t think there’s a good solution for regular office and conference room calling in the world of VoIP? It’s our job to tell you you’re wrong. Let’s take a look at a couple of VoIP phone models that will work great especially in your legal office setting.

VoIP Desktop Phones

The essential phone for office use is that of the desktop phone: simply a phone that you have ready to go near your workspace at any given moment. There are a number of VoIP phones that work well for this purpose, especially from the company Polycom.

Here are a couple of their best desktop phones:

These phones, intended for an executive setting, come with a number of great features and advantages. For example, corporate directory access means any Polycom Soundpoint IP phone can connect to an LDAP compliant data store – including an MS Active Directoy – that contains all of your corporate contacts.

This means you don’t have to store the directory in a system separate from the phones; instead, the two systems can be united. In other words, setting up your VoIP phone system if you have a lot of contacts can be a breeze with these phones.

Local Call Recording

Another feature of these phones is that of local call recording. Using a standard USB stick, you can record your phone calls easily, meaning you don’t have to take extensive notes.

Instead, you can use a one-touch system to record these calls for future reference. This is especially handy to have in a legal environment where you sometimes need calls recorded – but not always.

VoIP Conference Phones

In the legal environment, having a conference call is simply a way of handling your daily work. When a legal team needs to consult with someone remotely, a solid conference phone is the best way to go. Arming your own conference room with a Polycom conference phone will help to ensure that your VoIP system is well-connected and clear.

Here are a few conference phones you can browse through depending on your office type:

Additional VoIP Options

We can’t talk about Polycom VoIP phones without mentioning some of their great optional accessories, including a sidecar to the IP 650 and IP 670 that can double the available lines on the phone.

Whatever your choice, be sure to arm yourself with the best quality phones available – your law firm will run better as a result.
